About Us: Our History
- 1965 - Our organization was established as "Midland Council of Camp Fire Girls."
- 1975 - Camp Fire is opened up to boys.
- 1977 - Camp Fire hired its first professional leader.
- 1980 - Name was changed to "Midland Council of Camp Fire, Inc."
- 1983 - The Camp Fire on Wheels program was developed.
- 1991 - First KIDS CARE site was opened at Jones Elementary School in Midland. There are currently seven KIDS CARE sites in Midland
- 1993 - Name was changed to "Petro Plains Council of Camp Fire, Inc."
- 1997 - The first Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is celebrated.
- 1999 - First KIDS CARE site in Odessa was opened at Jordan Elementary School. There are currently five KIDS CARE sites in Odessa.
- 1999 - The current mission statement is adopted.
- 2001 - Accepted as a member agency of the United Way of Odessa.
- 2002 - Name was changed to "Camp Fire USA West Texas Council."
